Why isn't Nintendo appreciated more?

I know most people play PS3 and Xbox, the reason I am probably asking this is because I grew up with Nintendo, and I think its the BEST. It has depth and fun and just 'cause it doesn't focus on graphics doesn't mean it's bad. At least it's not MINDLESS like first person shooters. But more importantly why isn't ZELDA appreciated more? I think its the best Nintendo creation and I don't understand why when people think of Nintendo, Mario comes to mind. I mean Mario is not half bad, but I enjoy Zelda more. I know small origanizations(ex: Gameinformer Magizine) support it but I mean seriously, what the heck? It has more intenseness and a raised difficulty level to Mario. And it doesn't say ridiculous dumb cliche' stuff. It appeals to a large audience, and I think the fact that Link cannot talk makes a large amount of difference(so when questions are asked, uninvoluntary answers or dumb question selections aren't of choice; you can fill in what you would think you said by the reaction of the thing of which you are communicating with. Trey Parker or Matt Stone; the creaters of South Park say somethign like this in Game Informer Issue 225.) Also, to end this, why don't people know about Professor Layton? I mean it has puzzles, and deep characters and storylines. get the word out. k bye

motion controls are not the way many people want to play games.
nintendo has been on a decline with "hardcore" gamers and rising with "casual" gamers.
also, the tech is just not as good.
wii u isn't going to help anything either
nintendo is very gimmicky recently

zelda appeals to many people, it's definitly more popular than you realize i think.

professor layton is very cult classic i'd say

nintendo is very appreciated just not with the frat boy / shoot everyone / xboxlive 12 year old gamers that make up a large portion of gamers today

there are still many many gameophiles that love shigeru miyamoto and nintendo, just recently nintendos offerings have been limited

i dont think you need to worry, nintendo is always going to be a famous name, you dont have to hate other games just to feel like you are a nintendo supporter. you should make sure to just play what yu love and dont worry about what other people think

A lot of people love the legend of zelda series. Its making you think that games don't appreciate nintendo, zelda, Mario, etc. Because most of the so called "gamers" are the ones that play cod, and try to spread it like a religion. Im not a cod gamer or a console fanboy or anything. I just play games, period. Pokemon, diablo, zelda, you name it. Gamers like you and me don't seem as common because we usually keep quiet, not getting into those immature conversations about battlefield vs cod, ps3 vs xbox, or even why nintendo sucks. So don't worry, a lot of people out there still love and play nintendo games.

Most people I know who love Nintendo love Nintendo because they grew up with it, not because the games that come out now are any good. Nintendo's popularity is based on nostalgia. In the industry. Nintendo has very strict rules about what they put on their systems, so hardly any third party software gets released on them (that, and people don't want to develop for motion controls). Zelda games have been the same for 20 years, and that's their thing; they have not changed. Some people like that.

There are many great games, but motion control is seen as a gimic by the hardcore(COD) gamers, and also the wii cannot run COD well, so people hate it. But I love nintendo, and they will never stop producing games
