Any experiences with the hotel in Hanoi? I am looking for a decent and friendly hotel in the city for a few nights and this one looks good so far. Any other recommendations are welcome. I am looking for a hotel in the centre in the $30-$40 range.

Some cost only 20 USD/night. Please compare the quality of hotel also! I have noticed that there are many hotel which charge a little money for one night but their services are very low! Check here http://www.hanoitravelfun.com/category/hanoi-accommodation/

Thaison Palace Hotel is a really good hotel. We booked via Agoda and stayed there for 3 nights. Everything was perfect and we are confident to highly recommend it.

After comparison, as budget traveler, we chose the cheapest room option for 5 nights stay. Although, our room was without window with outside view, but the room was modern, very clean, nested up with your stay necessary things. Breakfast was good considering the cost. The staff was far friendly. He went out of the way helping us with tour booking to Halong Bay, train tickets to Hue.

For the price under 40 USD per night we highly recommend Thaison Palace Hotel for its good location, nice rooms and friendly staff. Super clean and nicely decorated hotel. Food delivery + wifi + hot showers etc .... Great service and can organize any tours there, even outside of Vietnam. Very helpful staff. Great value for money. We booked at this hotel via Agoda and found it was 15% more expensive than direct booking via hotel website.
