How much oil should be added to a newly rebuilt stock iron block lt1 engine before start up?

It's for a Buick Roadmaster. I am thinking it would be more than the 5 quart with filter oil change. thanks

Nope. Just fill it up with 5 quarts and a new filter.

Fill the filter, and fill the engine, using the dipstick as a guide. You CAN really make a mess, by over-filling.
