What do they expect when they ask what I want to achieve by joining the Air Force?

I'm not trying to tell the recruiter what they want to hear, except by staying on topic. I do not really understand what kind of answer they are asking for - are they talking about my goals once I join or what I expect to get out of the experience, or something else?

They really do just want an honest answer. If you want to make a career of it, say that. If you want to make college credits while serving your country or doing some good, say that. If you want to prove yourself to your parents, say that. In essence, just sit down and think about why you personally want to join up.

No two people are exactly the same, and so no two people will have exactly the same motivation. They just want to know what yours is.

I think they want an answer. Don't over-think it.
