Learning Spanish in Colombia- Visa problem?

I currently live in the United States and want to learn Spanish in Colombia and live there for one to two years. But it looks like I can only live there for 6 months in any given year... and I have to leave the country every 60-90 days in that 6 month period. From what I am seeing, I have to be in a special student program working towards a degree of some kind. I just want to study Spanish and concentrate on that. And it doesn't look like I have the requirements for any other type of visa. Any advice on how I can obtain a visa to live in Colombia for 1-2 years to study Spanish?

This is what I did in 2010, I was a tourist in Colombia, I enrolled in university EAFIT in Medellin, they then helped and organized my student visa. So as long as you are studying you will be able to stay.
