The production line/s are going to be shut down for 5 weeks. Sales are slack and the Ford Focus Electric is out selling it.
But there has been no announcement that the car is being removed from production.

Nope, not dead. There's a 5-week pause in production.

The European press just declared Volt the "Car of the Year". It's expected to sell much better in Europe (where gasoline is $7 to $10 per gallon.) European sales are just getting under way this month.

So, the Volt story is just getting started.

The Chevy Volt? Not dead, still for sale. I just saw an ad for one yesterday on TV. It's not leaving anytime soon.

Due to low demand, GM has suspended production. It is said to be temporary, but we'll see if it is or not eventually.

The fact is, you can get a small conventional car that costs less to operate than a Volt. A VW Jetta diesel gets better mileage than a Prius, and costs less to operate than a Volt, especially in areas with high utility costs such as the Northeast. The Jetta is also much less expensive than a hybrid or electric. ($22,000 for a Jetta, $39,990 for a Volt)
