BEST ANSWER Call in sick for a job interview? Please help, urgent!!?

My husband has had his resume on a job site for quite a while and forgot about it until today. He got a message from a great company who is persuing him for a better job! He is already working and they want to see him Friday morning, when he should be at work. He is paid hourly, and would not get paid for either being late or calling in sick. Now, my husband isn't really a liar, so he is very confused on what to do. He wants the new job but doesn't want to burn bridges. What should he do?

So, call in sick for the whole day or what? I really appreciate any constructive feedback.

Usually with job interviews you can reschedule, so he could ring up and ask to reschedule? However if your husband works mon-friday and the place he is getting an interview for is mon-friday also then that could be a problem with finding a good time. Doesn't your husband get paid holidays??? If he does then he could try booking it off, he doesn't have to say what it is for, however then the problem is if he can't have it off.......

I honestly think he should call in sick that day. If it's a good opportunity then it would be worth lieing for and also when finding work most people have to lie in some way.

call the company first thing in the morning and reschedule the interview. he should try to give them a time that would better work for him this will show the employeer that he is very interested in the job.

Tell them you don't really want the job, after all, and that's why you can't make it to the interview. What other reason could there possibly be for not going to the interview?
