Why are Twilight vampires all young?
Don't people ever get "changed" who are older adults, or fat, or disabled? Or does the process of becoming a vampire automatically make a person young, beautiful, and perfect?

I would imagine that in Stephenie Meyer's world, only people who are beautiful to begin with become vampires (the vampires are only attracted to exceptionally beautiful people, and so would only turn others who are attractive), though I'm sure the "vamping" process erases all a person's physical flaws.
Remember that in Twilight, physical beauty is far more important than anything else. Stephenie Meyer would never have written about a vampire who wasn't "perfectly gorgeous," so we can only speculate.

Meyers wanted her books to be best-sellers. How could someone not be young and sexually attractive, and be the main character of your story? *gasp!* we can't have THAT

Because the author figured that it would sell more books that way. She does need to eat and pay her rent, you know.
