House A/C fan running backwards.?

A/C has been running off and on all day with no problem then it just kept running and getting warmer in the house. There is no airflow coming from the vents at all. I checked the flex pipe and it is fine. what I did find was that the squirrel cage fan is running backwards. Air is coming out of the center of it. What would make the fan do that all of a sudden? What do I need to replace?

Impossible....even if the motor was reversible, someone would have to change the wiring on purpose. I think your coil is frozen solid and THAT is preventing the movement of air. You need to call a tech as your system is likely low on refrigerant.

Is it running backward full speed? if not bad motor some one let the smoke out.

The motor's starting winding is gone. Need a replacement motor.

Low on Freon or the filter is stopped up. These two conditions will cause the coil to freeze up and stop all air flow. Fan rotation is ok.
