Is life on Earth the embryonic fungal spawn of a new god-being...?

...one that is not yet self-aware or single minded, but will someday become one of many god-beings, each unique and powered by stars, if we can survive long enough? And is the sum of all god-beings themselves an ultimate god-being ever evolving and growing?

Or did I just make that up for no apparent reason?

YOu made it up for no apparent reason, but there is SOME truth in what you made up. Those who are not yet self-aware worship a mighty strange god - an invisible god - a powerless god - which is why the silence. BUT, quantum mechanics is pointing to a gestalt of gods, with you and me being POWERFUL gods in our own right. The reason that most people do not consciously use their power is because they are not self-aware. They are aware, but not SELF aware. (If they were, they would be conscious of the fact that they are powerful, and they would have tested that power to learn how it works, and they would be using it to create SATISFYING realities.

A little bit of learning goes a long way.
