budgie preening and napping?

I know budgies (10+) < in flocks of that much, I know that they all preen and go to sleep at the same time! its cute, when I was at the pet store yesterday visiting my Birdie friend (I visit him every week, hes a green cheek conure, I give him head rubs!) and under neath the bigger birds, which is that one and a quaker, under neath is the budgies and I seen them from the moment they were just waking up and began preening, but what I'm getting at is, is this world wide? Or all different times for all different flocks? or do all budgies in the world do it at the exact same time?

Good question :)

Birds live in flocks. Just like cows live in herds, or fish in schools.

In a flock, they work together to survive. So yes, they pretty much do everything at the same time, though, not as much at the same time like if they were wild. Birds in flocks all like to eat, sleep, play, and preen at the same times. In captivity, they don't do it as much at the same time. But in the wild, they're pretty much all in sync with each other to survive. They all follow each other. When someone wants to eat, they all start eating. When they feel it's time for a nap, they all try to nap. They do this out of security, because there's safety in numbers. If someone is out of line, it could put them all in danger. So yes, them waking up all at once is normal :)

Not all birds do it at once no. It's just an individual flock thing.
