How can me and some friends play the Hunger Games?

Question

Me and a group of my friends want to play the Hunger Games, we just need some input on how to make it really fun and the best experience.

So I need opinions on how to make these things the most effective:
- costumes (or tribute clothes)
- area to play
- weapons (how to make them look cool, but safe)
- ways for tributes to communicate with their mentors/the capitol

If you can think of ANYTHING else, it would be such a great help.

Go out into the woods and try to live with just the kind of articles they had in their backpacks.  It's probably going to be impossible because they were in a controlled environment and there were people to help them when needed.  Just go on an overnight hike with just the clothes on your back, survival mode.  Better look up what you will need first though so you make it...

for clothes a simple t shirt pants and a jacket
play in a wooded area with trees
make a bow and some spears out of sticks
use walkie- talkies 
for more fun have your own "reaping" and pick the peoples names. Maybe even do a little "training"
