Is this realistic? Should I trust the software?

Endomondo

Here is the data I logged..

Average Speed: 13.1 mph
Calories: 1065 kcal
Distance: 15.19 miles
Duration: 1h:09m:32s

I am 6'3", about 195 lbs.. 27 years old, and the trail has maybe 100 feet in altitude gain or loss at any point.. how is it even remotely possible that I lost over 1000 calories? I figure 50 kcal/mile.. which would give me 750 calories spent.. Is Endomondo known to be overly generous with it's kcal?

1065 is not all that far off from 750 in any case.
All of these caloric burn "calculations" are based on guesses and assumptions about average metabolism in any case, and not a perfect reflection of reality.

You are lugging the weight of the bike around too - did you factor that in?

It is more important to put in the miles - than to keep perfect records.

Also, you can just cut 250 more calories out of your diet - and that will make up for the difference.

Good luck.

Sounds high to me, figure about 35 calories per mile. That makes it 532 which is exactly 1/2 of what your computer says. A mountain bike will burn more per mile then a road bike.

Not possible. By the calculator I use - 816 calories during this ride.
