I have a jailbroken/unlocked 3gs?

it was jailbroken on blackra1n ios 3.1.2 cydia isn't working and neither are some apps. Can I rejailbreak using blackra1n and retain my unlock?

this is an old jb over 2 yrs. I need to rejailbreak (or figure someway to repair cydia), but not lose my unlock. I would think I could use a custom ipsw w/no baseband, but I'm not sure.

Sameer i have been on 3.1.2 for a couple of years. cydia recently stopped working. All I really want is for cydia to work again. Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks for the responses, since there was no definitive answer, and way too much conflicting info on the net, I'm just gonna leave it as is. I'll wait for the next update and try to catch a signed 5.1 and hope for the best.

I don't recommend using 3.1.2 on your 3GS. Apple still updates it and it runs well. Sync and create a backup of your phone. Then, use this guide to update to iOS 5.1 while keeping your unlockable baseband. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=20516

Then, use this guide to jailbreak your device: http://iclarified.com/jailbreak/index.php (LOOK AT THIS FIRST. You have to determine whether you're jailbreakable first.)

Once you have your phone up and ready, go to cydia, sources, and add this source: repo.iparelhos.com

Install the Ultrasn0w Fixer. The reason for downloading this is that the Dev Team responsible for unlocks never got around to updating the software, so this package fixes it. After you install the Fixer FIRST, install Ultrasn0w. There you go! You should be jailbroken, unlocked, and on iOS 5. Hope this helps!

I jailbroke my iPod 4th Gen with.. Redsn0w I think & it worked perfectly fine for me.. and some of the apps didn't work and i never used them for a couple of months and miraculously are working again? I don't know why or how, but they are. But when you update your iOS, jailbreak will disappear so you'll have to re-install it. I hope this kinda answers your question? :) X
