Teens: what's your opinion on Hipsters?

I know a lot of people hate them, but others respect them, and others are just posers and try to be like them.
URBAN DICTIONARY DEFINITION:
Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter. The greatest concentrations of hipsters can be found living in the Williamsburg, Wicker Park, and Mission District neighborhoods of major cosmopolitan centers such as New York, Chicago, and San Francisco respectively. Although "hipsterism" is really a state of mind,it is also often intertwined with distinct fashion sensibilities. Hipsters reject the culturally-ignorant attitudes of mainstream consumers, and are often be seen wearing vintage and thrift store inspired fashions, tight-fitting jeans, old-school sneakers, and sometimes thick rimmed glasses. Both hipster men and women sport similar androgynous hair styles that include combinations of messy shag cuts and asymmetric side-swept bangs. Such styles are often associated with the work of creative stylists at urban salons, and are usually too "edgy" for the culturally-sheltered mainstream consumer. The "effortless cool" urban bohemian look of a hipster is exemplified in Urban Outfitters and American Apparel ads which cater towards the hipster demographic. Despite misconceptions based on their aesthetic tastes, hipsters tend to be well educated and often have liberal arts degrees, or degrees in maths and sciences, which also require certain creative analytical thinking abilities.

BQ: have you been to any of the "hipster capitals"? ( I've been to Wicker Park and I went shopping at the Urban Outfitters they have there :P)

wow. I'm waaayy more hipster than i thought i was. but thanks for the definition!

I honestly don't care if your a hipster or not. If you're nice to me, I'm nice to you, that easy.

I don't get why people hate hipsters. Unless they're absolute d*ckheads about how much mainstream stuff sucks, then i guess it makes sense. Otherwise, its sort of prejudiced.
I respect hipsters.
They're ok with themselves and don't go with the flow like alot of people tend to do, just because they don't want to be the only ones. I didn't think people did things because everyone else did until about a week ago. One of my friends said "I'll go to debate club if you go". Another friend said "I'd rather read right now, but iI don't want to be the only one"

I really really with I could dress hipster, because that's the kind of clothing style I like but Urban Outfitters and those clothing stores are sooo expensive.

BQ: I've been to San Francisco, but when i was super little, and hipster didn't exactly exist yet

Oh, and in response to hipster as a trend, I've been a hipster since I found/created me, which wasn't too long ago

I think they're pretty cool and most of them seem very interesting. But what pisses me off is that being hipster is the new trend. Like wtf? Being hipster is about not being "mainstream" right. Then how the f.ck are you not mainstream if you're following the new fashion that everyone else is folliwing right now? -_______-
Also another thing I do not get is why people have the need to label themselves as something.

BQ. I've seen some of them in the mall just hanging out in their big groups. ;P

They're annoying AF.

But then again, Hipsters are synonymous with Special Snowflake Syndrome.

That's when people (always under the age of 25) think they are somehow inherently "different" or "unique" from other people. (Which is BS, a person is only different to a small group of people. Shove them into the REAL world, and you'll see you're just like everybody else)

Sorry, but buying clothes that make you look like a hobo, smoking pot, getting tats and piercings, and being for animal, gay, or feminist rights doesn't* make you special.

Get over it.

I don't hate hipsters I just think it's stupid. I mean what's the point. Most hipsters end up dressing like homeless people and they think that's cool. They try way too hard to stand out but end up failing miserably because everyone is dressing that way. They are just attention seekers because they can't stand out using their own style.
