Is this a typical reaction to Amox TR-CLV 875-125 MG tablets?

This is an antibiotic. Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid is a penicillin-type antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

I've taken Amoxicillin without any problems. I just started this pill and can barely stay awake to write this question. Also I itch everywhere. I've only taken one of the two prescribed for the day. My eyes keep closing.

I had an anaphylectic reaction to an antibiotic many years ago and it started this way.

All information and suggestions are highly valued.

Thanks.

Speak to a GP as soon as practical. If it is after hours see a pharmacist. They usually know more about the drugs than the doctors anyway.

As stated, amoxillin is a standard penicillin based antibiotic. [1]

Amox is a generic form of the drug Augmentin. Reference [2] lists typical side effects.

If you are allergic you may need treatment for the allergy in case it becomes dangerous. [3]

Knowing the reaction you had to erythromycin years ago, you should be worried. I know you will have taken preventative measures to alleviate the itching, but it is also doing that to the inside of your body.

That's the reason hives are so dangerous. What you see on the outside is also happening inside and can block your lungs.

So, take care dear cousin, and get well. I realize it the last couple of years have been hard on your health, but there is only one you so call the doctor and follow his advice. Don't take the second pill. Though you probably will because you'll want to test it to see if you're ok. Just remember the anaphylactic reaction and don't let it happen again.

Hi Tori.
I took penicillin (and its family members) until
at age 22, I had a reaction to a Penicillin shot.
My reaction was fast...extreme itching, swelling.
Had I not been rushed to the ER, it would have been fatal.
Amoxicillin is a member of the Penicillin family, so I would
be careful and consult a doctor.
I had taken Penicillin my whole life. The allergic reaction came on with that
one shot. Now if I take Penicillin, it would be fatal.
The itching is definitely a warning sign.

I'm not familiar with this particular antibiotic, but I have had reactions to other antibiotics and it could be a kind of allergic reaction.

I would definitely discontinue use and see the prescribing physician ASAP.

Best to you.
