Rattling, pounding water pipes?

We live in a house in the country on a well...For the last 4 days every time we flush a toilet ( we have 3) all the pipes loudly bang and rattle....What steps can we take to maybe fix this ourselves any help would be great we have a fixed budget and this was not in it...

Sounds like your "air chamber" is not working. There is a pipe built into the plumbing that is designed to accommodate the sudden pressure changes. I would try shutting off your water at the main and then drain the system at the lowest tap (usually a hose connection) and then turn the water back on and after you bleed out all the air, see if it still happens.

I assume this is a new symptom and not one you have had for years.

You may need to have a plumber install a water hammer at the highest point of the plumbing system, you could also check for lose and improperly hung pipes.

could be just loose pipes that need anchoring
