What do they mean by Windows stand alone OS?

I have an assignment that wants me to tell the advantages and and dis-advantages between:

1) Windows Stand Alone

2) Windows Server

3) Windows CE .Net

I have an idea but I'm not sure if I'm right: I think that what they mean by windows standalone OS is that it doesn't need a connection to another computer or internet to work. But, you can run windows server without a connection to the internet or other computers, so what's the difference?

Servers are open to the internet...basically serve the needs of a network of other computers.....yes you can pull all the plugs and have the server connected to nothing (not the internet...and not a network of computers).....and you can still turn the OS on, but then the server would be doing much. it would be like buying a Mercedes just so you can push it around.
Standalones have relatively limited server/network capabilities....its the consumer version for home use..

Windows CE is "Enabled Compact" for mobile use
