i recently got a tattoo on my shoulder and some people take offense to it what is up with that. It is just a rooster like the china zodiac.

No. Those people who find it offensive are just silly for overreacting.

Mine did me. Profoundly. It symbolizes an open chest wound, like my heart was torn out. http://twitpic.com/6oygtw
I designed it myself.
During the tattoo, I felt as if the negative energy that had built up throughout my life was being exorcised, & the knife acts as a protective amulet to block new negativity. Also, emotionally, I feel next to nothing since getting it. Weird.
But I love my tattoo & it has many deep, multi-layered meanings to me. I just got it last year & don't regret it. So far I've gotten nothing but compliments on it.

(why would ppl be offended by the Chinese Rooster Zodiac symbol??? That's borderline psychotic right there!)

Well, it changes a part of your skin...do you mean that it changes you on the inside? Of course not. I don't believe that at all.
