Abuse from a past Owner in some Dogs cases. :(

I think if a dog was to have a night mare it would be a dream of them losing their family. Losing your family to a dog is a tragedy beyond belief. Most dogs are never the same and some never recover from it. There's been many a dog that gave up their life after their master has died. This doesn't include the dogs in shelters that were killed as a result of losing their family. Most dogs are killed in shelters not adopted. Dogs can have deep psychological problems from it which results in behavior problems. Dogs need humans. There is a deep bond between the two species. Most of us love our dogs. When we take a dog it should be for their entire life.

Exactly what the above answer said. That's really the only thing I think they would have nightmares about, something they have experienced in some way. I'd put a sad face but it's best to smile and just be better than those who would cause a living thing to suffer. Speak through action.

My puppy's brother would have nightmares that night (crying in sleep or whatever he did) when the breeder came home 3 hours late and dinner was late.
Maybe they have nightmares about not eating.

My dog probably has nightmares about his former life or the cats attacking him
