The real question is why not? Why make cannabis illegal and alcohol legal?
And why would every country have the same drug policy as the US?

Marijuana has been smoked for thousands of years in Africa and the Middle East. Cannabis indica is native to Afghanistan and the surrounding areas. It is not surprising for a country like Iran to allow marijuana use.

Alcohol is illegal because their religion doesn't allow it. Most Muslim countries have a ban on alcohol.

I've never heard that, it doesn't seem likey and I wouldn't ask anyone where to buy it.
Especially wearing a Hanes "made in USA " T shirt.
Trouble is easy to find, don't go looking for it.

Probably because they don't know what it is in Iran. From the ignorance of Iran's politicians, it is legal by default.

Marijuana is native to North America.

You probably should consider the drug of Opium instead, since Opium is native to the middle east.
