Does deleting Instagram app delete your account?

I want to delete my Instagram app from my iphone because im switching iphones, but does this delete my account? Because I still want to use instagram on my new iphone.

I deleted my app from my phone and a few weeks later all my friends said they can't find any trace of my profile and I can't log in anymore.

Unfortunately no, but there is a way to delete it. You can't from a smart phone e but from a laptop/computer you can. When you log on click settings and it should come up :)
