Who do you think knows more about the human body in general? Chiropractors or surgeons?
I'm currently in pre med and preparing for study in general surgery in the ER. My little brother wants to be a chiropractor and we are having this stupid argument over who knows more about the body. I know its petty and immature but I just want the general population's opinion, personally (as you can probably guess) it's obvious to me that surgeons must know much more general information due to the fact that they are real doctors.. lol... But honestly what do you think.....

I'm confused about why a pre med student is studying general surgery in the first place, let alone in the ER?
Anyhow, of course surgeons know more about the human body than chiropractors....we study medicine, not quackery.
I have a friend who ( he admits ) unfortunately went to chiropractic school. While both receive thorough anatomy classes, a surgeon's knowledge of the workings of the body would have to be so much more intricate than a chiropractor or even a general practitioner MD And lets face it..as far as a chiropractor is concerned, and I quote.....Why would you teach jet engine mechanics to a person who is only going to fix bicycles? How much knowledge of the body do you need to know, just to make "cracking" noises all day long? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhxd9AKxDOg Does your brother really know what he is getting himself into? http://chiropractorswife.blogspot.com/2011/03/want-to-be-doctor-of-chiropractic.html
Do chiropractic students spend a year dissecting a cadaver? Do they take histology, biochemistry, pharmacology and genetics?
I'll also bet that the anatomy and physiology that they take pale in comparison to what a medical student learns.
And no "lol" about it, chiropractors are not real doctors. Some of them are downright dangerous, like the one who recently told a cancer patient with a near-obstructing rectal carcinoma that he didn't really need radiation therapy. Really? I thought he should have been reported to the State licensing board for that. And don't get me started on the anti-vaccination chiropractors.
The education for chiropractors does not cover the level of anatomy or histology covered in med school. It does include the diagnosis of chiropractic problems.
So the answer to your question comes from whether you consider the chiropractic science real knowledge.
