Good Restaurants around the French Quarter?

I have been to New Orleans many times now. I love the city and have a great time but I have found it very difficult to find a really great restaurant near the French Quarter. I a city that is suppose to be famous for its fabulous food I have found that most of the places I get sent to are tourist traps serving overpriced mediocre food. I will be staying in the French Quarter which I know is the heart of Touristville but are there really any great restaurants in the Quarter or walking distance?

My favorite in the Quarter is K-Pauls. I've eaten at two of Emeril's places but think K-Pauls is better.. But, as someone suggested, get out of the Quarter. Try Mother's on Poydras.

"French Quarter"
Theres your problem.

Take the Canal streetcar back to around Carollton/Mid City in the afternoon and stroll a bit. Great restaurants all around there.

Also take the green streetcar up st. Charles and you will be SURROUNDED by good restaurants. Get out of the quarter some; the eats there are many for tourists.

Have you tried the House of Blues Restaurant?

Also, you may want to hit Uptown to find more dining options (less expensive, too). Like on Magazine and St. Charles.

Look at Bayona or NOLA.
