I'm japanese.
most japanese don't hate white guys, we look at you in spite of myself cuz we have few opportunities to hear native English.
we avoid them (you think so), cuz if they ask us anything, cannot catch what they are trying to say.
and when anyone is talking with foreigners other japanese are look at them, thinking 「can he speak English ?」 I think it's strange, but I dont want them to be watched , so we avoid foreigners sometimes.
but if you talk to japanese, surprisingly, they are trying to help you.
please don't feel that we hate you guys. we're friends we know.

There are many, many white Canadians in Japan and they are not hated by the Japanese. Your treatment will depend largely on your attitude - which frankly from your post doesn't bode well. The person who does well has an open mind and not think they have "this hole thing figured out". How could you have an inkling, if you have never spent any considerable time in Japan before?
It looks more like you have just a bunch of tall tales, distorted exaggerations of easy girls and Japanese almost prostrating themselves in front of you.
Your appearance as you describe is not mainstream so you are already going to have some people distance themselves from you - for others with a more open mind you can make some good friends by bridging the gap....Show more

First, nice rant. Couple of questions thrown in for good measure but.....

1- You won't be anything exotic.
2- Girls won't be falling all over you.
3- You won't be asked to have your pic taken all the time. Now, once you have become friends, they might want a pic of themselves and 'the oddity'.
4- I remember that union jack bandana and canadian flag buckle thing. You were told that you might look at bit strange. They won't laugh in your face.
5- I'm familiar with your kind. You can find other Japanese kids like you. Just not all that easily.
6- Forget the bars that won't let you in. You don't have the money for those. They aren't your type and you aren't their type. You might even have some problems getting into some WITHOUT signs.

I've read all your questions. And, I answered for you once or twice. This time, I will tell you my honest feeling you want to know.

1) I guess you wanted to know if you would accepted in Japan.
You often asked racial features. But, you didn't find that you highly insulted Japanese by your question. Japanese people usually express negative things euphemistically. You lack this ability, and will give Japanese people displeasure. This is one typical thing that the vast majority of Japanese people hate.
You have been asking the similar questions persistently. It is also highly hated in Japan. "Don't bother others" is one of the most important manners/customs in Japan. You lack this, too.
2) As for punk, vast majority of Japanese people treat them as scum. For even "unusual" people, it is quite old-fashioned, I think. It doesn't recommend any person.
3) You have been asking the similar questions repetitiously. It proves the lack of confidence. I think that most people feel it is unmanly.
4) Your race won't be a problem in Japan however your speech and behavior will cause many troubles in Japan. Obviously, Japanese people hate those who can't understand the mood/atmosphere. Actually, these people were called KY and it was a popular word years ago.
5) There are some people who insist Japanese people are racists in this section. These people tend to flee from the reality, and they often conclude that Japanese people are racists. I think you can understand this fact through their comments because their comments are relevant to above-mentioned facts. These people are called "extrapunitive type." And, they are not evaluated in Japanese society.
You gave an example of a rumor about a bar, and criticized Japan through the unclear rumor in this question. Your comment relevant to this. And, you don't even notice that you have been seriously insulting Japan.

Conclusion:
I think it is almost impossible for you to live comfortably in Japan. I feel that you "wear" punk atmosphere to hide your frail self. Japanese people generally use indirect communication. It means you will give them some signs which you don't intend to through your behavior. My suggestion is that you should abandon the punk fashion or forget Japan....Show more

First, Japanese are white.
I've never seen "no foreigners" for years.
Normal people as in Japan or other countries don't like tattooed or pierced people.
Foreigners came "to have a rest", for simpleminded people that means a lot of alcohol and a lot of troubles as a consequent. Especially comparing with drunk Japanese, who are very quiet and non-aggressive. Almost for the same reason people in Eastern Europe don't like British.
Most of foreigners, of course, don't know Japanese. They cannot read rules and prohibition marks, and so don't follow them.
And because Japan is not so tourist oriented country most Japanese don't know English.

So, if you can speak Japanese enough and can show it, follow rules and quiet, you will never get a problem being foreigner. More over, you can get benefits from being foreigner. Unknown people can make even presents to you.
Once, going from Tokyo to Sendai by bicycle I stopped at one onsen. Relaxing in hot pool I was asked by some old Japanese guy about my country. Talking with him I complained, that it's hard to find good place for tent because of high population density. That old guy told me, that I can stop at his garden near his house! More over, after we came to his house he invited me inside to have dinner. His wife prepared some food, fried meat, he brought beer. We talked about many things. It was nice....Show more
