Can I tie braided fishing line together?

I know I can tie two lines together, but my question is two parted;
-will there be a noticeable knot, (ie, will it "catch" when I cast?)
-what is the best knot?

I don't want to waste the 75 yards of old stuff!

Uni-to-Uni Knot. It's noticeable but I never have problems with it catching (and I use 65# on my frog rod)

PowerPro even suggests it as a line to line knot for their braid.

75 yards is 225 feet of line. I don't know about you, but most of my casts are less than 100 feet, way less usually, so that knot won't do much of anything. Even when I'm chucking lures for ultimate distance I don't think I cast further than 200 feet, and that's hucking a heavy weight/lure on a long rod, a long distance.

EDIT
for the knot, the Uni-to-Uni works well, but I've done quite well with joining a fluorocarbon leader to Berkley NanoFil, which is thinner and much more smooth and slick than most braids, using a modified Surgeons knot. Instead of doing 2 passes through the loops, I do 3-4 and I haven't had one break.

A blood knot is also recommended for connecting two separate lines together. There are some good youtube videos on how to tie it, And its not very hard
