5. A beach blanket (or small sand chair)
6. A good book if you like to read.
7. A wide brim hat to keep the sun off your face.
8. Snack food (if you like to munch)
9. A notebook (if you like to write or journal)
10. A cell phone that has a camera and MP3 player all built in.
11. A bathing suit
12. A good friend
*Of course there are many, many other things you might enjoy
taking with you to the beach, but since you said you did not want
to take too much, I selected the items that I think are the most
appealing and necessary.
If you can only take one thing to the beach, the most important item
on the list is #12. Whenever possible, bring a good friend with you
to the beach so you can share the time together. Enjoy!

Mild Mind
Water bottle (non-glass); sufficient non-perishable food for your stay; sunscreen; loose clothing; a towel or beach blanket; possibly sandals or flip-flops; head cover (hat); DEET based insect repellant; enough toilet paper for an emergency (two packets); and unless it is a clothing optional beach, a swimsuit.
