Cena would still be a rapper and midcarder, and Batista would be upper mid-card.

Great question. If John Cena and Batista were in the Attitude Era then in my opinion both one would fair rather well and comfortable with the rest of the roster while the other would complete be out of place. Back 10-15 years ago in the Attitude Era, fans hated the goody-two shoes babyface act that they got from most top babyface so I don't think John Cena would have been a Main Event player in that respective era. I think however that if he was somehow able to manage to bring back his old Dr. of Thuganomics gimmick than he would be able to be very successful both card position wise and popularity wise.

As for Batista, I think he would easily fit well in the Attitude Era. He's been very outspoken in past interviews and on his Twitter account that he's a avid fan of the Attitude Era and hates the PG direction the WWE is currently going in There's no doubt in my mind that he would have put on great feuds with guys like The Undertaker back then, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H then, The Rock and etc. Batista's heel gimmick in late 2009-early 2010 had so much potential to go very far but I felt the WWE's PG rating hurt his gimmick a little he would have been top heel potential in the Attitude Era as well as a top babyface considering he was edgy in 2005-2008. So overall Cena would need a while lot of tweaking on his gimmick and Batista would have been fine.

Batista would have probably been like a young guy with big muscle. John Cena would have been the child of the attitude era

I always found Batista to be a Rhyno rip off, big, strong and always doing someone else's biding. Rhyno worked for The Network in ECW, then Edge and Christian, The Alliance and finally Immortal in TNA. Batista worked for Devon Dudley, Evolution and then he stumbled his way through a boring and pathetic solo career. Knowing WWE's habit of ripping off ECW, he probably would have fared reasonably well during the Attitude Era.

Cena, would have been a mid card comedy act and would have probably ended up as a member of The Right To Censor faction.

I think they would of done fine but they would of had to been edgier! Since both Rock and Steve Austin was the main event talent, they might not of been able to become the top stars, just looking at guys like Christian, Mark Henry, Jeff Hardy, Edge, and a few others, they was all in the Attitude Era but none of them became World Champion until after it ended!
