Has anyone had any luck getting their VAT refund when traveling in the UK? At times merchants will tell you that their product will be tax free when you claim it back at the airport. However, it seems like a complicated process. Just checking to see if anyone has done it and the process of doing it.
Thanks.

When you get to the airport to go back to your own country, you will have to fill in a form showing each item you purchased and how much VAT you suffered on it and then you will have to attach each and every VAT invoice or receipt. Then you sign the form and state who in the UK you would like the refund to go to.
Then after 2 months the person you have nominated will get the refund cheque from the tax office. Sorry but they will not send your VAT refund abroad, you will have to find a friend here who will accept it on your behalf and not steal it from you but send it to you after they have cashed the cheque.
