How to get better at being graceful (ballet)?

I'm in band, and I'm really interested in doing winter guard. I've spun rifle, flag, and sabre for four years and really am quite good at the technique, but I've never done ballet in my life. I've always done sports and totally understand catch here, hit there, but I have a really hard time making my movements graceful and smoothing it out. Is there any way to get better at that? Any advice?

Yes - ballet training can help you execute your moves more gracefully, and confidently. Doing some water ballet would be helpful also, if you enjoy swimming.

I am really clumsy (as in tripping going up and down stairs!) so when I started ballet at 13 I was a little nervous at the being graceful part. Two years later I am still taking ballet and my gracefulness level has skyrocketed! In my experience to be graceful you have to be confident in yourself even if your insecure. Having poise is key and just being comfortable with what your doing will help. So overtime you'll get it, just think graceful thoughts!
