I live in a moderate sized city,it used to be layed back and pleasant, now it feels uptight and conservative?

be here since 1988,seems like even in the cooler progressive parts of this city it to feels uptight and phony, makes me sad and long for the old days but its not easy to accept this, need a city easy to get work and frioiendly with hippy ideals

Smit', welcome to the life described in this song:

Yesterday when I was young
The taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue.
I teased at life as if it were a foolish game,
The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame.
The thousand dreams I dreamed, the splendid things I planned
I'd always built to last on weak and shifting sand.
I lived by night and shunned the naked light of the day
And only now I see how the years ran away.
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/r/roy_clark/yesterday_when_i_was_young.html ]
Yesterday when I was young
So many happy songs were waiting to be sung,
So many wild pleasures lay in store for me
And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see.
I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out,
I never stopped to think what life was all about
And every conversation I can now recall
Concerned itself with me and nothing else at all.

You're growing up, li'l buckaroo - for good or bad.

Don't we all. Welcome to generation Y where everyone must fit the mold andeveryone knows everything. Every conversation must be quick and humorous. Energy drinks, coffee ,and alcohol substitute for sleep or down time. Not having a 4 yr degree makes you a complete unemployable loser even if you still end up working at the 7-11. Every slight social exchange is hilarious or life changing. Mistakes aren't allowed and are never fogivable reguardless how minor. And the computer has an answer for everything.
