how do you make a ps2 emulator to run games smoothly using a quad core pc?

I had a ps2 emulator on my pc and no problems running it or playing games but with a quad core processor apparently it makes games run slower or choppy, anyway to fix this problem

PS2 emulation requires high amount of graphics processing maybe your graphics card is old and low on performance because to enjoy gaming on a PC the GPU must be very powerfull to handle the processing CPU is also important but most of the work while playing a game is done by a GPU.
