Camstudio is low quality but records well.
Hypercam 2 records and the quality can be decent too, but on some operating systems the sound won't line up with the video.
Hypercam 3 is excellent, but the free version leaves a watermark. Also, trying to record some emulators or in full screen is a no-go.
Camtasia Studio is my personal favorite but is expensive.
There is a new version of Hypercam that is free and claims compatibility with Windows 7/8/XP and others. It has excellent reviews and even claims HD, but I haven't personally tried it. http://download.cnet.com/HyperCam/3000-13633_4-10004511.html?tag=contentBody;pop
