What Monument to Niel Arnstrong?

should we raise.....besides the obvious....towns on the Moon, starships.....

eventually we'll have something for all that generation of pioneers, American and Soviet....but what now, this year?

and are you as glad as am that we got to live in the age of Heroes?

I'm glad I grew up in the age of heroes, it was an innocent age, that's for sure.

There aren't real heroes anymore. Technology has advanced so far that we don't need any single heroes. And, it's a shame too because the heroes of today are people like the Kardashians or pop singers like Rihanna or Katie Perry. These are the people that are looked up to, envied, and admired.

I just don't get it.

I agree the age of heros we lived in was great, but there are still heros out there now. They are just a bit less obvious. What about mothers and fathers who work together to raise children in an environment where their schools and society seem to encourage destructive behaviors? What about people who, in spite of recent experience, still are willing to try to serve their country in leadership positions?

Neil (and the other members of the Astronaut and Cosmonaut corps) were exceptional heros, and the best of them (like Neil) didn't jump up and try to capture the limelight, instead teaching and leading others to excel. (not the Microsoft kind of Excel)

I feel blessed to still have strong memeries of Neil Armstrongs walk on the moon, and reading of his testing of the X-15 into hypersonic speeds and yes he is a great American, a titIe I give to very few people. Your other answer is right about today's hero's. If your not a hip hop artist then forget being blogged about. Sad but true.

He left his own memorial, his footprints at Tranquility Base. Nothing we could build could possibly equal the quiet magnificence of those dusty prints.
