The Java patch has just been released today. It is Java 7 UPDATE 7. Update and your in good shape.

The first thing to ask is whether you need Java, or simply Java Script? They are not the same, and you may only need Java Script which apparently is not an issue.
Based on the background information, there is no protection against the virus that can infect Java.

Norton is one of the worst out there. Right now, until they patch the security issue with Java don't use it.
