China has a strict communist government, and yet the US has no problem trading with China. On the other hand, Cuba, also communist, has been under trade embargoes for decades that have only lessened in recent years. What are the logical reasons for this apparent contradiction???

It's because of the Cold War in the 80's The Soviet Union had placed missles in Cuba ready to launch at the US.....the US didn't forgive them for that. The U.S. borrows money from China

I think America was cheesed off for loosing against Che Guevara, I am sure that before the decision was made to cease trade that they made sure there was plenty of Cuban cigars in the Whitehouse! The Americans tried all sorts of ways to kill off Fidel Castro, including an exploding cigar and releasing biological agents. All of course failed.
