I hate it! Someone just a little while ago posted about two Oscars and some other cichlids in a 20 gallon tank? It's horrible! I, on the other hand, cannot buy a fish without knowing everything there is to know about it. I research until there's nothing left to research, because I am so afraid of making a mistake! Most people see them as something that can be just flushed away if they die, no big deal...But I don't...They are still living creatures and should not be subjected to horrible conditions that some people put them in. Ugh! /end rant.
Edit: I just looked at that link. That is so horrible...that guy deserves a slap in the face. At least he's doing the right thing now and upgrading.
I think the answer is simple, these people are not hobbyist, or fish keepers, they are fad folks, they see or hear about this thing called keepin fish, and run right to the fish store, buy the cheapest, smallest tank they can and fill it immediately with every cute little fishie they see. Those die pretty quickly, and that process continues for a couple of more cycles, then the tanks get emptied, go to a shelf in the garage and are never thought of again, and they are on to their next quick dose of excitement, that again they fail miserably at , and so goes their entire life. If you wanna talk to true, dedicated hobbyists, join my forum, tropical-fish-forums.com and quit hearing these endless horror stories.
1. they expect a pet store to be able to give sensible advice about fish and they often don't 2. they don't think fish keeping is a hobby and needs any skill; you just put fish in a bowl and they live 3. the fish stores have tiny tanks with lots of fish in them and the customers don't really understand the difference between having a 600-800 gallon fish system in a store, with constant maintenance, with professional equipment, and a 10 gallon tank at home. 4. lazy, forgetful, stupid, all of the above.
you keep asking this question . you like greater assistance approximately fish conserving than what you're getting seem up cycling an aquarium, and biologic filtration and seem up questions right here like "why did all my fish die" and "why is my aquarium cloudy" the quite answer is which you may desire to have the clear out and each thing working for a pair of day in the previous you get fish in case you cycle your tank with fish. in case you do a "fishless" cycle, then you definitely set up the tank and clear out 6 weeks in the previous getting fish. observe: i do no longer comprehend in case you incredibly have a "water pump" please verify to make helpful to comprehend what you have and what it incredibly is for. No clever individual could sell you an aquarium and not utilising a clear out, so lower back, determine you comprehend what you have. edit: some human beings do no longer comprehend what cycling incredibly potential, it does no longer advise working the tank for an afternoon, or each week, it incredibly is a 6 week technique.
Laziness is probably the main reason but who can say? Advertising like the pic you referenced is just advertizing. People take things like that literally.... that is why they put instructions on shampoo and toothpaste. No common sense.
