Material to use for a temporary path in a winter veggie garden?

My vegetable garden area is all dirt. In the winter it get very muddy when it rains. I am planting my first winter garden so I need suggestions on what type of material to use for temporary paths so I can access my veggies without sinking in my muddy clay soil. I don't want to do permanent paths because I rotate crops depending on the season.
I was thinking of possibly using straw.

I think you have the right idea. Use mulching materials to form a path. They can be tilled into the soil come Spring as a plus! Clay soil will be much improved after the addition of organic material, too.

I'm thinking more on the lines of using Wooden Pallets as a walkway, Anything that will stick to your Shoes or boots will be a pain as you'll be dragging it all over the place along with the Mud on the soles.
While your at it, why not use Raised Beds for gardening ? that will be a bit neater along with the pallets
