Lateral Entry to Teaching EC?

So I have a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education. I was asked if I am interested in Lateral Entry in teaching EC b/c an EC teacher just resigned (I am currently unemployed at the moment but am substituting around the county).
How exactly do this process work? I understand that I have to take the Praxis II exam(s). What else?
If I do get the position, I have to take classes to become certified or licensed in this course of study, right?

Thank You,

Early childood is code for daycare in many places. They are asking you if you want a position - often, you would be eligible, but would have to take some EC units to stay employed.
