What do the police need to stop me?

I have a military vehicle (think Jeep) with a fold down windshield. It is not inspected at this time. If I fold down the windshield the police can not see if it is inspected, or licensed. Can they stop me just to check, or do I need to do something wrong for probable cause? (I need to drive it to a garage for brake work so I can have it inspected)

No inspection sticker visible would be prob cause.

Depends on how that's enforced in your area.

In South NJ I see stickers from 2008; enforcement is lax.
