Why do some people consider the Virgin Mary to be what She is not?
For some it is supposed that the Blessed Virgin Mary is a "goddess". I find instead that those who are closer to Her as being the Mother of our Redeemer and whom He regarded even when dying on the Cross, think of Her as a Human Being highly favored by God, overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and willing to become the Mother of the Prince of Peace but not a 'goddess'.Further more, those who think that others regard Her as a "goddess" cannot actually say why they do! So, why do they?

The Theotokos and Holy ever virgin Mary: The Council of Ephesus decreed in 431 that Mary is Theotokos because her son Jesus is one person who is both God and man, divine and human. It is western protestant's belief only. The protestants vilify the Mother of God as if there is no tomorrow to push forward the agenda of some heretics. God the Holy Trinity so provide that Jesus is God, pure and a perfect Man. Think how could one accuse His mother to be sinful, when her body and blood so provided to Human Jesus who is sinless and perfect, and if such is the case, then Jesus was born with sin. Think guys and ask forgiveness.
In the eastern orthodoxy, Mary the theotokos, is honored second to Jesus since time immemorial. She is always ever-virgin. You could see that in their churches, and also in the eastern catholicism. So the western protestants are not in full truth for vilifying the Mother of God, who is full of grace and blessed from generations to generations.
Christians do not consider the Virgin Mary to be a goddess; she is a human being, not divine. Some Protestants think Roman Catholics and/or Orthodox consider her a goddess, but they misunderstand veneration and honor, thinking it to be worship. We honor her as the mother of the Son of God incarnate, and see her as the greatest example for us of humility and submission to God. Another point of misunderstanding is the intercession of the saints. When we "pray to Mary", we are in fact asking her to intercede for us -- just like some will ask a pastor or prayer partner to pray. The bond of love is not broken by the death of the body.
Then there are those who have departed from the faith, and *do consider Mary a goddess; this is idolatry, not Christianity.

You have to stop thinking in human terms and think in spiritual terms. Not only was she a virgin when she conceived but a virgin after Jesus was born. If you read some of the books that were not accepted into the Bible You will read that a midwife who helped in the delivery of Jesus was upset and could not believe what she just witnessed. Told another midwife what she saw and both of them went back to check Mary to see if she was still a virgin and she was.
They have been taught wrong by a false prophet, there are many of them teaching the word of God by using human wisdom,IT CAN NOT BE DONE!!! That's why Jesus said," Do not call yourself teacher because we are all equal and have only one teacher." The virgin Mary was a human being whom God chose to bear his son,she was no different than any other woman other than God chose her.
Because they have been taught falsely. Christ chose the lowly womb to make His entry into the world. He had to fullfill a prophesy spoken of by Isaiah the prophet. " that a virgin would bear a son." It was none of Mary's doing, as she was of the line of David, which Isaiah also prophesied and He would be born in the city of David. the prophesy fullfilled. She was faithfull as a servant in obeying the Word of God. Christ shed His blood for Mary also, as she was just like us, who believed in the Word of God, And Christ was the Word made flesh. Mary did not shed her blood for us, she wasnt persecuted, It was Christ who was persecuted as Herod tried to have Him killed. Mary did not give us the Word, which is the bread of eternal life. Christ even mentions that before Abraham, I am " So if they dont believe Christ and His Word, then how can they be christians or follow Christ to the cross where He placed Mary into the hands of John, a disciple of Christ who took her home. Mary also had other children, which the roman catholic church denies, pretending that Mary was not human like the rest of us, but she was as she also believe in Christ as being the Redeemer of Israel. and if she was like ludwig has been brainwashed to believe, then how come there was a need for Christ to be crucified?
