Head lice "ettiquite"??? other parents!!!?

So, for all the other parents out there. What do I do? My oldest son went to a birthday party and picked up some lice, and since he and his brother are very close, his brother got it too. I found it tonight, only found 1 bug so I'm hoping I caught it early. I've already shaved their heads, stripped their beds, lysoled everything, and bagged up all linens to be washed tomorrow. Anyways, I can't help but feel obligated to inform the school nurse so that she may do head checks to catch it early if anyone else has it. I've never had to deal with this before, is this the proper thing to do???

The proper thing to do is to let others know such as friends, family members, and the proper people at the school where your child attends.
This will lessen the chance of your child getting it back and it will give the parents an opportunity to check their child's hair for lice.
We have to break the stigma that head lice is for dirty people- in fact, lice prefer clean hair!
It is nothing to be ashamed of having lice. It's becoming as common as a "cold" and is one of the number one reasons why kid's miss school.
So if you don't want to get it back -I highly suggest you let others know that your child had lice.

Yeah its best to let the school nurse know so that she can make sure no other children have lice. I would give the doctor a call in the morning and get the lice rinse for your boys heads as well. Even after you shave their heads its still best to treat with the solution so that you are sure all the lice are gone. Its just like shampoo. Its better to be safe than sorry.

Yes one informs the school's health practitioners.
