Help, I had just quit smoking. How do you deal with stress, by not smoking?

I had quit smoking for 7 days now. I had smoked for over 20 years. How do I controll myself from not smoking when I am very mad about something? What else could I do?

Replace old bad habits with new good habits. Whenever you feel like smoking, go for a jog. Or have gum. Or brush your teeth. It's very easy to quit and go back, do make sure to find something quickly.

Make a commitment to immediately perform deep breathing exercises and then find REASON for the fastest way to begin to deal with getting mad. Emotional Intelligence research states that the use of reason is the most efficient way to deal with uncontrollable emotions. Remember that you are still in charge when the part of you is mad and increase your WILLPOWER to begin to analyze what role you played in the "mad event" and role others played in the "mad event'. Take the next step with realization that there is accountability on both sides of the "mad event" and sometimes the "mad event" is simply a coping mechanism from childhood that you learned or your parents modeled.

Drinking water is another pattern intervention to smoking.

Exercise is another pattern intervention to smoking.

Taking a shower is another pattern intervention to smoking.

There are many more and I am sure you will use the right ones for yourself.

God Bless and Good Luck

You say you are stressed out about money. You smoke weed (which takes money) to destress? Clear the smoke from your eyes and see clearly. After you smoke a blunt and the effects are gone you still have stress but a lot less cash. It makes no sense! Let me put it this way. Stress = No Money Weed = No Money More Money = Less Stress No Weed = More Money = Less Stress Sorry to put it so "Bluntly"! He,he!

keep your mouth occupied -- raw carrots are good

keep a pencil between your fingers (think pacifier)

Mentally focus: every minute you don't smoke, you are killing the dragon that lives inside you that gives you the cravings

Sleep as much as you can.

Do NOT drink soda or coffee or beer. They are major triggers. So is fast food..

Get a heavy bag and punch it. Then chew a lot of gum. Good luck to you!
