Gravity Physics Help?

A certain white dwarf star was once an average star like our Sun. But now it is in the last stage of its evolution and is the size of our Moon but has the mass of our Sun. THE gravity on the surface on this star IS 4.38 * 10^7 m/s^2

A) How much would a 60 kg person weigh on this star?

B) What would be the speed of a baseball dropped from a height of 2.0 m when it hit the surface?

a) w = mg
w = 60 * 4.38 * 10^7
w = 2.63 * 10^9 N

b) u = 0, s = 2, a = 4.38 * 10^7
v^2 = u^2 + 2as
v^2 = 0 + 2*4.38 * 10^7 * 2
v^2 = 1.93 * 10^8
v = 1.39 * 10^4 m/s

It would actually be impossible to drop a baseball. It would be crushed by its own weight before it was released. And the temperature would be in excess of 6000K, so it would not be a pleasant place to be.

b) v = sqrt(2 g s) = sqrt(17.6 x 10 7) = 13 x 10 3 = 13,000 m/s
