Should I get the 3DS if I only want one or two games for it?

I've had a regular DS lite for quite a few years now, and have always been perfectly happy with it. It works great and I have a couple of games on it that I love to play nonstop.

But the latest release in my favorite game series, Kingdom Hearts, is on the 3DS and I am dying to get the game, and so when my Mom asked about what I wanted for Christmas I told her to get me a 3DS and that game, but I'm not sure that it'll be worth getting because I only really want that one game (There is another that I might want but I'm not sure about it yet) on the system. The only other reason is because I feel that my system needs an upgrade since they either stopped making or make very few new DS lite games. Besides, I'm also asking for the Epic Mickey sequel (Not on the 3DS but on the Wii) and that brings the total up a lot.

So, is it worth it to get a 3DS if I only want one or two games on the system and my DS lite is still in working order (and I use it pretty much everyday)? Please help! Thanks!

Hi there friend.

Yes, the 3DS is worth getting, even if it is just for two games. It's an excellent handheld console and has plenty of other fun features on it. The 3DS is actually better than the Nintendo Wii and even has better graphics. Even Mario Kart 7 and Mario Tennis are also games to consider buying for the 3DS and they are both extra fun to play online against real people, using the Nintendo Network.

Since you mentioned that this would be a Christmas gift, then it would be worth me suggesting you ask for a Nintendo Wii U, which is going to be released this month. It will have everything a Nintendo 3DS has an 10 times more. Think about a Nintendo Wii and 3DS combines, but tripple that. No exaggeration either. The only thing is, Kingdom Hearts wont be released on the Wii U anytime soon, but it will still be worth it getting one. Many awesome games are being released on it.

The choice is yours. Kingdom Hearts and a 3DS is a great Christmas present, but so would a Nintendo Wii U, and if not better.

Well, the system has a bunch of extra apps on it, like Netflix and such, and you'd be able to play your old DS games on it too. You might also change your mind on what games you want, and so you'll have the system just in case. An upgrade isn't a bad idea either, you rarely see DS games for the original system anymore.

Plus, I've heard good things about Dream Drop Distance, and I'm sure that as a fan of the series you'll probably be stuck to that game like glue and won't get bored.

It all depends on you, I'd say go for it, it's a nice system.
