2001 yamaha yz 250...?

my dads friend has a 2001 yz 250 that he is selling prolly around 1500, it has a brand new motor & ive ridden it before & its fast as hell! i was wondering if you think it would be a good dune bike? ive heard of 2 strokes blowing in the dunes more than 4 strokes. i like 2 strokes more but dont want to take a risk of it blowing i dune ride more than i go to the trails, what do you think? should i just get the 250 or go for a 450?

If it's cheap enough buy it at least it gives you some cheap wheels to play on for a while then upgrade later if you need to, but a 250 will do all you need for some time.
