The Black Hills are returned to the LAKOTA (Sioux) tribes in S.D. !!!!?

Today was a historical day for the Lakota people: the Black Hills (most sacred site to the Sioux tribes in South Dakota) have been returned to their rightful owners after they were taken illegally by the government in 1868.

I know, I know...many of you won't care. But I do, Justice was done. AHO!

Scooterpoop - so does that mean that we should forget an injustice done in the past simply because those people are not alive today? The Lakota have been fighting for nearly 150 years to get it back. The Black Hills is a sacred site for them (and creation site). You're speaking out of not knowing the facts.

No, they haven't been. What has happened is that a United Nations representative has recommended the return of the land. (which the US supreme court also ruled to be the case in 1980)

Whether or not the US will comply is another story.

In September, the Sioux did manage to PURCHASE a 2000 acre sliver of the Black Hills,(for 9 million dollars, all raised through fundraising and donations from tribal citizens) and this was seen as a great symbolic victory.

All the gold in the Black Hills must have been mined. Otherwise it would have never been returned.

Likely only because they are of no use to them, If they were loaded with Minerals Etc that likely would "NOT"have Happened

How is that justice, again?

No one alive today was harmed by any actions of the 1800s.
