I don't know how older is your computer and what OS you're using, but any browser will be better than Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer is the only browser that doesn't follow web standards, it has a very poor performance and big security problems.
Chrome is a fast browser (use the Safari engine) but gives all your personal info to Google without acknowledging you!
You can install and use any browser, I recommend you to keep IE on your machine and start using another browser as a default, Chrome is a good one.

Google chrome. Waaay faster. Internet explorer is real slow compared to chrome. But it's only my opinion.

If you have win7, you might try internet Explorer10, very good & fast. In fact, after installing it I've removed Google chrome due to endless tracking on you.
