My trifocal lenses are expensive...to keep old lenses for spares---can they be fitted into another frame??
They discontinued my frame and there is room on the left and right side each lens to fit into smaller frame....wondered if it could be done

We can sometimes cut the lenses so they will fit into another frame. The frame measurements must be the same or very close to the same and the eyepiece of the new frame must be smaller than the old frame (we can cut the lens down by taking material off but we cannot add material to make it larger).
When we do this, we must make sure that the PD of the lens matches or is very close to the person's PD (Pupilary Distance).
Many times it will work, but sometimes it does not.
ON EDIT: In answer to your additional details ... That can certainly be done, however, being a smaller frame may make the optical centers of the lenses not fall in front of your pupils which may cause visual discomfort. A good lab tech can tell how it will turn out before hand and advise you if it can be done without compromising your vision.
