Making decent sushi vinegar?

I love sushi, and I use the Mizkan brand rice vinegar, with salt and sugar for the rice. I still find the rice tastes a little bland, even if I put more than the suggested amount of vinegar into the rice.

Is there some secret ingredient I am missing that needs to be put in with the simmering vinegar, sugar and salt?

Any suggestions much welcome!

You don't want to add more mizkan if your taste buds still think the rice is still bland even the rice is already soaking wet with mizkan. You can add a combination of distilled vinegar, mirin, salt and sugar. Taste the mixture you are cooking to the right consistency and taste you like then add to the rice just so the rice is well mixed and not loaded with too heavy taste because it will conflict the taste in the rice with the taste when you add the toppings to make those sushi you like. *
